Spring Fundraiser!

It’s that time of year again! It’s the spring fundraiser! Today I have sent home a package of forms for each event that will be happening during the spring fundraiser. The forms are due on Thursday so send them in as fast as possible!

There is also a pledge form attached in the package. If each child raises at least $35 in pledges they will be taken to play bowling on April 29th! The class that raises the most will get a movie and pizza party!

If they hand in the forms the children are able to participate in the following events:

1) Extra casual day on Monday April 18^th

2) Pancake breakfast on Tuesday April 19^th

3) Make your own ice cream sundaes on Thursday April 21^st

4) Dance party on Friday April 22^nd

5) Popcorn party on Monday April 25^th

6) Make your own ice cream sundaes on Wednesday April 27^th

Our overall goal is to raise $9000. There are benchmarks that we are trying to meet and incentives to get there including:

$2,000: Silly string Ms. Bosetti

$4,000: Shave Mr. Palumbo’s head

$6,000: Pie a teacher

$9,000: Water balloon the teachers

It is going to be a great two weeks and more information will be sent out next week about the second week of the spring fundraiser!

Forms are due on Thursday so please get your forms in soon!

ACTION

Action is a very significant aspect of the IB learning process. In the PYP Program, students will engage in 6 Unit of Inquiries (UOI) throughout the school year, with each unit being approximately 6 weeks long. During each UOI, 3 students from the class will be assigned as the “Action Stars”, which means that they are encouraged to use what has been learned and apply it to the “real world.” The purpose of this initiative is to help further knowledge about what has been learned within the classroom. Example: If we are learning about recycling, students might go home and tell you that they want to implement a recycling program with you at home, or they may do something simple like telling you that something you were throwing in the garbage may be recycled. Students who are not assigned this role for the current UOI being taught are still encouraged to show ACTION! Action comes in many forms; it might be something small to something very large, but as long as the children understand the concepts, action is important no matter the size!
