Hello!

Here is what we did today!

Calendar: Today our routine was led by Maya.
Gym: Please see Ms. Lovan's blog for more information.
Phonics: Today we did our show and share for Long and Short Oo and Uu. Everyone presented very well and then we practiced spelling the word. Great work!

Party!: Next we watched a Christmas movie on the projector screen, ate snacks and enjoyed ourselves!


Spelling test: These tests will be given back when we return in January.
Christmas activities: We continued the movie we were watching and did some Christmas colouring and some people decorated their gingerbread men!

Lunch/Recess

House game! We played a house game with the houses!

Day 67

Hello,

Here is what we did today! Today was a different schedule due to the Christmas concert.

Calendar: Today our routine was led by Ethan

Christmas concert practice
Phonics: Today we worked on short Uu. We talked about the difference between the sounds and how a short Uu sounds like a "punch in the stomach". Next we made a list of words that have a short Uu sound. Finally we finished off with a worksheet.

Lunch/Recess

Journal: Today we wrote our lists to Santa. We talked about what we: want, need, will wear and will read. They did really well!

Christmas concert!!

Math: We practiced adding using counters. This is a good skill to master as the numbers start to get higher. They can use this skill to help them out.
Daily Five: We did our regular activities

Reminders:

·         Students are to come to school on Monday and Wednesday in their gym uniform. Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, students are to come to school in their full school uniform.

·         Please make sure that your child is wearing the proper shirt for winter. This is a long sleeve polo shirt and no short sleeves.

·         Please make sure your child has a pair of black dress shoes and a pair of gym shoes labeled and to be left at the school for their indoor shoes this year.

·         Please make sure that your child has hat, gloves and scarf as it is starting to get cold outside

Here is what we did today!

Christmas concert practice
Phonics: Today we worked on short Oo. We compared the difference between the long and short Oo sound and then they made a great list of words that have a short Oo. They are really getting the hang of long and short vowel sounds!

Journal: Today we did our journal on "three words that have the letter Oo are...". Once they had three words they had to identify if it was a short or a long sound.

Christmas craft: Today we did some painting for our secret Christmas craft! They look so cute! You will receive them on Thursday!

Math: Today we continued to work on adding. We practiced adding together on the carpet and talked about where the answer should be placed when they are doing column addition. Next they completed a worksheet. They are doing really well with adding!

Reminders!

Just a few reminders about things that are coming up soon! The children should wear black bottoms (dress, skirt or pants) and a red, white and/or green top. The children need to come in their costumes so they do not have to get changed at school. They can wear a Santa hat if they want to during the performances. Please ensure that they are at school on time as we have a dress  rehearsal starting at 9:00 am.

There are two concerts tomorrow. One at 1:30pm and one at 7:00 pm. For the 7:00 pm performance the children must to be there for 6:30. Aftercare will run until 6:00 only.

There is a bake sale on Wednesday and Thursday of this week at first recess.  It's the big Christmas bake sale!  The bake sale will also be taking place on Wednesday evening at the Christmas concert.  There will be lots of items to purchase, and raffles to win!

Please take a look at the lost and found tomorrow as all items will be donated to charity at the end of Wednesday December 16th 2015.

Registration packages will be sent home tomorrow. These are due back on February 11th 2016.

The P.D. Day camp is being offered on Friday December 18th 2015 and Monday January 4th and Tuesday January 5th 2016. A flyer regarding these events went home last week. If you are interested please send this in as soon as possible.

Thursday is spirit day! Children are encouraged to wear red, white and green.
