Day 115

Hello

Shreya filled her tar chart yesterday! Good work Shreya!

We started off today with a presentation on Autism for Autism Awareness day.

Calendar: Today our routine was led by Aydan
Phonics: Today we continued to work on the "sh" sound. We went over several words that have the "sh" sound in it then did a worksheet. They had to decide if the word had a "sh" or an "s"then write the word using a word bank. They did really well!

Lunch/Recess

Music: Please see Mlle. Jessica's blog for more information.
UOI: We started off by creating a review sheet of what we know so far about communities and community helpers. Next we read a story about doctors and reviewed what we remember about doctors. Then we started making a doctors coat craft!

Lunch ( Lunch times were changed today)

UOI: Finished the craft and then did silent reading.

Recess

Math: Today we talked about the toonie! We reviewed how much they were worth and what they look like. Next we started learning to count by 2's up to 20. We used the video below to help us get the numbers down. Next I wrote the on the board and we simply counted out loud. Finally i erased some numbers and they had to say from 2-20 and fill in the blanks. They did really well!

Hello!


Maia filled up her star chart! She reached the stars 10 times! Great job Maia!

Here is what we did yesterday.

Calendar: Today our routine was led by Julia.
Phonics: Today we continued to work on the "sh" sound. We talked about the words that have "sh" in it. Next we used flashcards to sound out "sh" words and create sentences. Once they had done that for two words we switched cards two more times.

Lunch/Recess

Journal: Today we started writing three sentences in our journals. We wrote about "During Easter I..."
UOI: Today talked about being doctors! We read a book and talked about what doctors do, what they wear and what tools they use. Next we talked about what doctors do during a visit to the doctors. Next we did dramatic play and practiced assessing each other using a worksheet. They had to give a diagnosis and decide what they should do to get better. Finally we made a web about the different things that doctors do. They knew a lot and had so much fun!

Lunch/Recess

Math: We continued to talk about the loonie! We talked about how much it is worth and what it looks like. Next we practiced counting loonies on the board. Finally we completed a worksheet where they had to count loonies. Some of them had a hard time remembering which side the dollar sign goes on!
Language: We read the book "The lady who swallowed a chick!" I played it on youtube and we payed attention to the order of the story. Next we practiced sequencing and put the events in order of occurrence.
