Day 57

Hello,

Here is what we did today.

Calendar: Today our routine was led by Aydan.

Art: Please see Ms. Kerr's blog for more information.
Phonics: Today we reviewed Long Ee again. They needed a reminder again of different words that have that sound. They were still having a bit of trouble with that sound. Next they completed a worksheet in which they had to circle the word with the Long Ee sound in it. Next they needed to practice sounding out each word. I asked them several questions to see if they were using the sound in their reading as well. By the end of the review they were doing much better understanding the sound.

Lunch/Recess

Unit of Inquiry: Today we started a new unit of inquiry unit called "Outside my window!" We talked about what we thought that meant and they came to the conclusion that it was going to be about the seasons. Next we made a list of different things they know about the seasons and they knew a lot! In order to remember what the four seasons were, we learned a song to help us. Next we read a book about seasons called "Changing seasons". They learned a lot and told me what they had learned from the story.
Journal: Today we wrote about what our favourite season was.

Lunch/Recess

Math: Today we reviewed the topic same vs different. We did a few examples together noticing which things were the same and which were different. They completed 3 worksheets and flew right through them!
Unit of inquiry: Sahara presented her down on the farm presentation today!

 Christmas concert: We ended the day practicing our song a few times! They are getting really good!

Reminders: 

·         Students are to come to school onMonday and Wednesday in their gym uniform. Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, students are to come to school in their full school uniform.

·         Please make sure that your child is wearing the proper shirt for winter. This is a long sleeve polo shirt and no short sleeves.

·         Please make sure your child has a pair of black dress shoes and a pair of gym shoes labeled and to be left at the school for their indoor shoes this year.

·         Please make sure that your child has hat, gloves and scarf as it is starting to get cold outside
