Day 82

Hello,

We had a great day today! We were not able to go snowshoeing because there was not enough snow but we had lots of fun anyways! We started the day exploring the outdoors, looking for evidence of animals and playing games. Next we fed the chickadees! We stood with our hands out and tried our best to stand still and be very quiet. Some birds even landed on our hands! After lunch we went out for a nature walk and talked about different types of trees, felt different types of bark and played games. Once we were back at school we did calendar and played with the pinata! The children we take home their candy tomorrow. Overall is was a great day!

ACTION

Action is a very significant aspect of the IB learning process. In the PYP Program, students will engage in 6 Unit of Inquiries (UOI) throughout the school year, with each unit being approximately 6 weeks long. During each UOI, 3 students from the class will be assigned as the “Action Stars”, which means that they are encouraged to use what has been learned and apply it to the “real world.” The purpose of this initiative is to help further knowledge about what has been learned within the classroom. Example: If we are learning about recycling, students might go home and tell you that they want to implement a recycling program with you at home, or they may do something simple like telling you that something you were throwing in the garbage may be recycled. Students who are not assigned this role for the current UOI being taught are still encouraged to show ACTION! Action comes in many forms; it might be something small to something very large, but as long as the children understand the concepts, action is important no matter the size!
