Here is what we did today!
Calendar: Today our routine was led by Isis.

Phonics: Today we started working on blends! We worked on the sound "ai". Together we went over the sound that this letters make together and made a list of words together. Finally they did a worksheet.
Lunch/Recess
Journal: Today we wrote three words that have the "ai" sound in it. Next they chose one of their words and wrote a sentence using that word.
Unit of inquiry: Today we used our senses to describe summer. They knew did an excellent job at uses of senses regarding summer! I was really impressed. Next, their exit ticket out of the door their verbal response on two different ways they could use their senses during summer.

Lunch/Recess
Math: Today we verbally went over adding one to each number. We used the calendar as a visual aid and added one to different numbers. They are slowly starting to memorize some of the answers to the addition questions. I am really impressed!
Daily Five: We did our daily rotation.

Homework notice:
As we are starting to work on blends in phonics, we want to make sure that we are giving the students lots of practice. As a result, we are changing the homework folders. Now the children have jolly phonics blends worksheets. Each week instead of finding the letters in the songs, they have to complete the worksheet. This will help them to recognize words that have that sound, practice writing it and sounding out some words that have that sound in it. They will need some assistance on it but it should not take long. Try and guide them towards the answer and they should be fine as we will be working on it in class as well. If you have any questions let me know.
International mindedness day: This day is on January 22nd. Our country is Mexico. Each student will be assigned a topic and they are to bring in information/pictures on that topic for Mexico only. Our project will also have props and/or food and anything you can bring it will be greatly appreciated and returned to you after the day is complete. Thank you!
