Day 76

Hello,

Here is what we did on Friday. 

We started off the day playing a house game and handing out IB awards for December. Out communicator for the month was Zia Hasham! Congrats! Good work Zia!

Gym: Please see Mr. Slyk's blog for more information. 

Calendar: Today our routine was led by Selena. 

Phonics: We started off phonics with show and share! All of the show and share students brought an item, shared it to the class and we spelt it together on the board. They all presented beautifully! 

Journal: Next we planned our dream vacation! The students told me where they wants to go an wheat they would do while they were there. We had some students watering to go to India, the USA, Mauritus, and Mexico! They had lots of fun. 

Lunch/ Recess

Unit of inquiry: Today we talked about the IB learner profile communicator. We read a story called Click Clack Moo Cows That Type. We talked about how the cows and Farmer Brown communicated to each other. We learned that they are communicators because they shared their ideas and they listened.

Lunch/ Recess

Math: We started off the period practicing our mental math again playing a game. It is a good way for the children to practice using their fingers. After each question we say the question and answer out loud as to help them repeat it. They are getting much better at it! I am so proud! 

Reminder we have a test on Monday in addition!

Daily Five: We did our daily rotation.

-          Snuggle up and read- Due Friday

-          We will be starting a new homework folder instead of jolly phonics. The students have a worksheet to do for each new blend they will be working on. This week they need to do the “ai” and “Jj” worksheet. This is due on Friday.

-          Friday Show and Share students:  Justin (ai sound ), Selena (ai sound),  Julia (Letter Jj),  Isis (Letter Jj)

o   Please bring in something that begins with the letter sound beside your name.

-          Please note: ALL students must wear the “winter” uniform (long sleeve shirt and sweater vest or cardigan)- NO T-SHIRTS PLEASE – If students are not dressed in their “winter” uniform, a uniform violation form will be sent home.
