Day 74

Hello,

Here is what we did today! 

Calendar: Today our routine was led by Vishnu.

Gym: Please see Mr. Slyk's blog for more information. 

Art: Pleaae see Mr.Kerr's blog for more information. 

Phonics: Today we started working on the letter "Jj". We learned how to write the letter together. Next we made a great list of words that start with Jj and sounded them out together. Next the children made words out of play-doh from memory. 

Lunch /Recess

Journal: Today we wrote two sentences  about the signs of summer. 

Unit of inquiry: Today we reviewed what we remembered about summer. We sang a song about summer time and different things we do in the summer time. Next they did a cut and paste activity where they had to put different winter/ summer pictures in the correct column. 

French: Please see Mlle. Jessica's blog for more information. 

Lunch/Recess 

Math: Today we played an addition game. There was ten numbers on the board and the children came up in pairs. I gave the students a question and they needed to use their fingers to figure out what the answer is by pointing to the correct number in the board. They had a great time and was a great way to practice mental math!

Daily five: We did our regular activities.

-          Snuggle up and read- Due Friday

-          We will be starting a new homework folder instead of jolly phonics. The students have a worksheet to do for each new blend they will be working on. This week they need to do the “ai” and “Jj” worksheet. This is due on Friday.

-          Friday Show and Share students:  Justin (ai sound ), Selena (ai sound),  Julia (Letter Jj),  Isis (Letter Jj)

o   Please bring in something that begins with the letter sound beside your name.

-          Please note: ALL students must wear the “winter” uniform (long sleeve shirt and sweater vest or cardigan)- NO T-SHIRTS PLEASE – If students are not dressed in their “winter” uniform, a uniform violation form will be sent home.
