Day 69

Hello!

Happy New Year! I hope everyone had a fantastic holiday! I am glad that I am back at school and get to see all of my students again! Here is what we did today!

We have a new student in our class today. Her name is Maia! Welcome to SK in St. Judes Academy!

Today was Isis' birthday ! Happy Birthday Isis!

Calendar: Today our routine was led by Maia!

Phonics: Today we reviewed Long and short Oo. This is to help them remember their long and short vowels! We made a list on the board of the sounds and then used play-doh to make a word that has a long Oo and a word that has a short Oo.

Lunch/Recess

Unit of inquiry: Today we reviewed what happens in winter to the trees and the weather! We made winter trees using cotton balls. They had lots of fun and they look great! They are going to be displayed outside of the classroom. After they were finished they did some individual or reading with their partners

Lunch/Recess

Math: Today we continued to work on adding numbers to 10. We practiced some answers together on the carpet and trying to figure out how we could figure out the answers. I am working on knowing the answers by heart as this will help improve their math skills.
Daily Five: We did some individual and partner reading

- Please note: ALL students must wear the “winter” uniform (long sleeve shirt and sweater vest or cardigan)- NO T-SHIRTS PLEASE – If students are not dressed in their “winter” uniform, a uniform violation form will be sent home.

ACTION

Action is a very significant aspect of the IB learning process. In the PYP Program, students will engage in 6 Unit of Inquiries (UOI) throughout the school year, with each unit being approximately 6 weeks long. During each UOI, 3 students from the class will be assigned as the “Action Stars”, which means that they are encouraged to use what has been learned and apply it to the “real world.” The purpose of this initiative is to help further knowledge about what has been learned within the classroom. Example: If we are learning about recycling, students might go home and tell you that they want to implement a recycling program with you at home, or they may do something simple like telling you that something you were throwing in the garbage may be recycled. Students who are not assigned this role for the current UOI being taught are still encouraged to show ACTION! Action comes in many forms; it might be something small to something very large, but as long as the children understand the concepts, action is important no matter the size! Please check out our Action board in our classroom to see all our fabulous learners.
