Thursday May 5th

Hello,

Here is what we did today.

French: Please see Mlle Jessica's blog for more information.

Calendar: Today our routine was led by Danial.

Phonics/Journal: Today we continued to talk about the "er" sound. We made a list of "er" words. Next we wrote down three words with the "er" sound and three sentences.

Lunch/Recess

Uoi: We did a Mother's Day craft!

Lunch/Recess

Math: Today we started talking about half hour. We talked about how if the minute hand was at the 6 then it was half the hour. Next we practiced writing the hands on a whiteboard clock. Next we practiced using individual clocks. They are starting to understand time.

Uoi: We had three people do their community helper presentation today! Good work!

ACTION

Action is a very significant aspect of the IB learning process. In the PYP Program, students will engage in 6 Unit of Inquiries (UOI) throughout the school year, with each unit being approximately 6 weeks long. During each UOI, 3 students from the class will be assigned as the “Action Stars”, which means that they are encouraged to use what has been learned and apply it to the “real world.” The purpose of this initiative is to help further knowledge about what has been learned within the classroom. Example: If we are learning about recycling, students might go home and tell you that they want to implement a recycling program with you at home, or they may do something simple like telling you that something you were throwing in the garbage may be recycled. Students who are not assigned this role for the current UOI being taught are still encouraged to show ACTION! Action comes in many forms; it might be something small to something very large, but as long as the children understand the concepts, action is important no matter the size!
