Phonics: Today we did show and share about the blend "ng". We talked about the sound that "ng" makes and spelled each word together. They were very creative! Good job girls!
Journal: Today for journal we talked about this months IB learner profile, open-minded. We read the book "Green eggs and ham". Next we talked about the character in the story was being open-minded by trying new foods. Next they did a worksheet and a picture about the story.

Lunch/Recess
UOI: Today we talked about Kelso's choices. Kelso's choices provides children with tools to help them solve problems on their own. It is a wheel of different solutions. I introduced the wheel and then talked about the difference between a problem for a teacher and a problem they can deal with on their own. Here is a picture of the wheel and a tool we will be using in class to help them know when they can deal with it on their own vs when they need to tell a teacher.
Language: Today we talked about sequencing a story. I read this a book and as we read the story we talked about how to sequence it and what was important to include. We talked about the importance of using names and the words "and then".
Sight words: Lately some kids have been spelling sight words wrong in their journals. As a result, I reviewed reading sight words and writing them. I showed them a flashcard and the first person to raise their hand read the card to me and moved up the rocket. Next we I stood in the middle of two children at the board and they were given a word to spell on the board and the winner moved up the rocket.
Lunch/Recess
Math: We talked about the penny again today. First we went over how much it was worth and wrote the cents sign on the board. Next I drew many pennys on the board and someone told me how many cents it was worth. Next they came
to the board and wrote the amount on the board. Next they completed a worksheet. I think they have mastered the penny!
Daily Five: We completed our daily rotations.
It was Layla's birthday recently so she received a birthday certificate!
