Day 93

Hello

Here is what we did today!

French: Please see Mlle.Jessica's blog for more information.

Calendar: Today our routine was led by Aydan. Welcome back Aydan!

Phonics: Today we continued working on the letter "Zz". We sang the song and then made a list of words that have a z in them. Next we completed a worksheet.

Lunch/Recess

Journal: Today we did our journal in three words with the letter "Zz" it and then wrote two sentences.

Language: We practiced our poems. Please continue to work on volume, expression, diction and actions.

UOI: Today we talked about ways to deal with being sad. We read a book gag talked about different ways to feel better. Next we made a list on chart paper of our list. Finally I gave them all scenarios in which they had to apply what they leaned in a skit. They had so much fun!

Lunch/Recess

Math: Today we started working on subtraction using a number line. We start on the big one and then figure out how many numbers Linus is going to eat and move that many numbers to the left. I did some examples on the board then students came up to the board to answer questions. Next they did a worksheet.

Daily five: Silent reading, partner reading and rainbow write.

ACTION

Action is a very significant aspect of the IB learning process. In the PYP Program, students will engage in 6 Unit of Inquiries (UOI) throughout the school year, with each unit being approximately 6 weeks long. During each UOI, 3 students from the class will be assigned as the “Action Stars”, which means that they are encouraged to use what has been learned and apply it to the “real world.” The purpose of this initiative is to help further knowledge about what has been learned within the classroom. Example: If we are learning about recycling, students might go home and tell you that they want to implement a recycling program with you at home, or they may do something simple like telling you that something you were throwing in the garbage may be recycled. Students who are not assigned this role for the current UOI being taught are still encouraged to show ACTION! Action comes in many forms; it might be something small to something very large, but as long as the children understand the concepts, action is important no matter the size!
