Here is what we did today!
Poetry Competition: We started off the day with the poetry competition! Zia, Sahara and Julia were the presenters from our class and I was so proud and excited for them to present. They all did an amazing job and I couldnt be prouder of them! Out of the SK's, Zia came in first place, Honour ( Ms. Bancud's class) came in second, and Julia came in third. These girls will be moving on to the next stage which is to present on March 1st when The Maples school comes to St. Jude's Academy. Here are some pictures from today. Again I am so proud of you all!!!!
Phonics: We continued to talk about the sound "oo" sound today. We sang the song and found the words that have the "oo" sound in it. Next we made a list of words that have the "oo" sound in it. We made a good list! Next we did a worksheet on "oo"
Lunch/Recess
Journal: For journal today we did an OWA post assessment. They are making great improvements!
UOI: Today we talked about being thankful. First I read a book called "Feeling Thankful." We talked about why people are thankful and made a list of things that we are thankful for. They were thankful for things such as: family, friends, school, teacher, having a house, food, the rain, the things I have and so many more things! Next we read a story book called "Llama llama misses mama." The children learned about what they could do when someone is missing their mom at school and what to do if they are missing their mom at school! It was a good lesson for them!
Sight words: We practiced a sight word game. I showed a flashcard and the first person with their hand up has to tell me what the word is. If they get it right they move up the rocket.
Lunch/Recess
Math: Today we did are last day on the nickel. They are getting really good at counting in fives! We sang the song online (link below) and I stopped it periodically and asked different people what number came next. Next they completed a worksheet.
