Day 36

Happy Friday!

We had a great day today! Everyone looked amazing in their costumes and harvest colours! We started the day off playing a house game. Some of the teachers were made into mummies!

Calendar: Today our routine was led by Bryce.

I gave the kids plastic teeth with fangs in them and we took a really cute picture!

Lunch/ Recess

Unit of inquiry: Next we finished off our presentations with Shreya. After that we decorated bags to put our Halloween treats in!

Phonics: Today we did our show and share for the letters "Gg" and "Oo". Thank you to those who brought something in!

Finally we finished off the day handing out Candy, apples and pumpkins. It was a great day!

Reminders:

- Students are to come to school onMonday and Wednesday in their gym uniform. Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, students are to come to school in their full school uniform.

- Please make sure that your child is wearing the proper shirt for winter. This is a long sleeve polo shirt and no short sleeves.

- Please make sure your child has a pair of black dress shoes and a pair of gym shoes labeled and to be left at the school for their indoor shoes this year.

- Please initial agendas on the right side of the book daily to indicate you have read the agenda slip on the left hand side. Any new information that pops up throughout the week will be written on the right side of the agenda.

ACTION

Action is a very significant aspect of the IB learning process. In the PYP Program, students will engage in 6 Unit of Inquiries (UOI) throughout the school year, with each unit being approximately 6 weeks long. During each UOI, 3 students from the class will be assigned as the “Action Stars”, which means that they are encouraged to use what has been learned and apply it to the “real world.” The purpose of this initiative is to help further knowledge about what has been learned within the classroom. Example: If we are learning about recycling, students might go home and tell you that they want to implement a recycling program with you at home, or they may do something simple like telling you that something you were throwing in the garbage may be recycled. Students who are not assigned this role for the current UOI being taught are still encouraged to show ACTION! Action comes in many forms; it might be something small to something very large, but as long as the children understand the concepts, action is important no matter the size!
