Day 65

Hello,

Here is what we did today!

Christmas concert: We did a run through of all of the performances!
Calendar: Today our routine was led by Bryce.
Phonics: Today we started talking about long Oo. They were so good at it! We talked about the difference between the sounds and then made a list of different words with that sound. They had no problems at all. Here is our list!

Lunch/Recess

Today Julia presented her show and share from a few weeks ago that she wasn't able to present previously. Great job Julia!

Christmas craft/journal: Today we started making a Christmas craft that we are going to do over the next couple days. We worked 1:1 to do this so while Mr. H and I did this with different children the children worked on journal "My favourite winter activity is..."

Lunch/Recess

Math: We continued to work on adding today. We are practicing using counters to add up the questions. This is an important skill to know how to use as the numbers start to get bigger. I can definitely see the children improving! Keep up the good work!

·         Please make sure your child has a pair of black dress shoes and a pair of gym shoes labeled and to be left at the school for their indoor shoes this year.

Day 64

Hello! 

Here is what we did today!

Calendar: Today our routine was led by Kashish. 

Gym: Please see Ms. Lovan's blog for more information. 

Language: We completed the pre-assessment for the Ontario Writing Assessment. 

Phonics: Today we did our show and share and everyone presented beautifully! I can definitely see their confidence growing. They presented their objects and then we spelt them together. Next we made a list of words that have a short and long I in them. 

Lunch/Recess 

Journal: Today we wrote about " three words that have the letter I". They had to write both long and short I words and then determine if it was long or short. Some even wrote some sentences when they were finished!

Lunch/Recess 

Math: Today we continued working on adding. We worked together on some how to use counters and practiced adding together. Next we had people doing different activities. Some were working on worksheets by counting pictures. Some had to use counters and some had answers that went above ten. They did great!

We ended the day reading some books together! We read "About a bear" and      "Cows to the rescue!"

It was a great day!

Day 63

Hello,

I had a great day today with the Miss. Bannon's JK's doing lots of fun activities! They were on the best behaviour I was so impressed! Here is what we did today!

Calendar: Our calendar was led by Nina today. We did the days of the week, months of the year, counted the number of school days and read the good morning message.
Gym: Please see Ms. Lovan's blog for more information.
Math/Phonics: Today we started working on patterning. I did several patterns with them on the carpet using blocks and they had to spot and fix the mistakes I was making. Next I gave them their own blocks and they had to make their own pattern. The activity we did was making their own rocket ship and making a pattern using construction paper blocks. Each construction paper block had one letter of their name on it. They tried really hard to make patterns and they were really good at it!

Lunch/Recess-

Unit of inquiry: In SK we are working on the seasons. Today we talked about winter. We started off reading a book called " A very special snowflake." Next we talked about what you need to wear in winter and what the weather is like in winter. We decided that you needed to wear: coats, hats, scarfs, boots and mittens or gloves. Next they made their own mittens out of construction paper. I glued their mittens together while they were in French and they looked really cute!

Lunch/Recess

Language: We read a book called "Look out kindergarten here I come! Talked about being nervous about kindergarten and how many exciting things are going to happen and how there is no need to be nervous!
Daily Five: Some people did listen to reading, individual reading and some practiced writing their name with play-doh.

Overall it was a fantastic day!
