Monday June 6th 2016

Hello,

Here is what we did today.

Calendar: Today our routine was led by Aydan.
Phonics: Today we reviewed short vowel sounds and completed a package. They did really well and finished it all really quick!
Next we completed a page for the report card


Lunch/Recess

Journal: My favourite movie is....because...
UOI: First we completed some projects that were not done on Friday. They all did great! Next the students discussed what they believe a "Thinker" learner means and shared it with the class. Then they listened to the book, "Ish" to give them a further understanding of what a thinker does. After, the students completed a worksheet on the book and the Thinker IB learner.




Lunch/Recess

Math: We reviewed adding today and counting on our fingers. First we did some together and reminded each other of how to add in our head. We start with the big number and then put the smaller number on our hands and continue to add from there. Next we played an adding game on the board and they had a lot of fun! It was good to review.

Friday June 3rd 2016

Hello,

Here is what we did on Friday.

Today during announcements the students received their awards from track and field! Our students did great!

We had a lot of people fill their line up lately! Great work everyone!

Calendar: Today our routine was led by Justin.
Phonics: Today we practiced sight words by playing a game. I showed them a sight word and they had to be the first one to put their hands up to tell me what word it was. They love it. Once they get the word right they received house points and moved up the rocket.
Journal: My favourite part of arts night was... because...

UOI: We did our family presentations. Everyone did a great job talking about their family history!

Math: Today we did our measurement test.
Calendar: Today our routine was led by Kashish.
Phonics: Today, the students reviewed the "ai" sound. Then, brainstormed some words with the ir, er, ur and ai.

Arts night performance: The kids had their first arts night performance and did amazing!

Calendar: Today our routine was led by Layla.
Phonics:Today we worked on the "ai" "er" "ir" "or" and "ar" sound. The children worked in partners to think of different "ai""ir" "or" and "ar"  words We reviewed the sound that "ai" makes and played a game in which they have to identify the sounds in the word.
Journal: If I had super powers I would....because...

Math: Today we continued to practice for our math test. I drew some pictures on the board and we practiced putting them in order of size. Next they completed two worksheets! They are ready for the test tomorrow!

Aftercare

This is just a friendly reminder that June after care pay-as-you-go system begins on Wednesday

We begin charging at 3:45 pm and ask that you come prepared with change as payment must be tendered before you sign-out your children to avoid invoicing and confusion over the summer months. 

You may fill and hand in the pre-paid forms up until Wednesday

Calendar : Today our routine was led by Isis. 
Phonics:  Today we worked on the "ai" sound. The children worked in partners to think of different "ai" words We reviewed the sound that "ai" makes and played a game in which they have to identify the sounds in the word.
Journal: If I could fly I would go to....

IB Learner: The students discussed what they believe Principled Learner means with a partner then shared their ideas with a group. A principled learner acts with honesty and fairness. They respect the dignity of other individuals and groups and takes responsibility of their own actions. The students listened to the book, "Bucket Filling from A to Z" and discussed the different ways they can be principled learners. Then, they chose three ways to be bucket fillers on a worksheet.

Lunch/Recess

Math: Today, the students were introduced to capacity where we learned about the difference between full and empty. First, we started with defining what empty and full means and completing some examples on the board. Then, the students completed two worksheets about things that are empty and things that are full. When they were finished they went around the classroom looking for items that are empty and full.
